LCS gets thumbs up

The Pentagon's top officer offered a thumbs up Tuesday for the littoral combat ship. Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he needs them deployed today. It was in response to a question at a hearing of the Senate defense appropriations subcommittee. Austal USA's shipyard in Mobile, Ala., is building a version of the LCS.
