Scientists who were aboard two research vessels studying the Gulf of Mexico oil spill's impact on sea life have found substantial amounts of oil on the seafloor. The oil was in samples dug up from the seafloor in a 140-mile radius around the site of the well, said Kevin Yeager, a University of Southern Mississippi assistant professor of marine sciences.
