MOBILE, Ala. -- Mobile-based Signal International said that new contract awards over the past month have prompted the company to hire 500 workers at its Pascagoula, Miss., yard this year. Over the past month, Signal has been awarded multiple contracts to refurbish and upgrade four offshore drilling rigs. All work is slated to be performed at the Pascagoula yard, and the rigs are already arriving.
