HII readying for CG icebreaker bids

WASHINGTON, DC - Huntington Ingalls Industries officials announced Sept. 1 that it had responded to a Request for Information (RfI) from the Coast Guard regarding a new icebreaker ship design and construction after President Obama urged speeding up work on the program. HII spokesman Bill Glenn said the firm – which “has the capability to build both heavy and medium icebreakers” - responded to the RfI back in January when the CG began developing a formal acquisition plan for the program.
