Picayune-NYT partner on climate

The Times-Picayune of New Orleans and The New York Times has begun a partnership to explore the causes and potential effects of coastal erosion and sea levels along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. The collaboration will combine the resources of two environmental reporting initiatives: The Times-Picayune's coastal reporting team, made possible in part by a grant from the Fund for Environmental Journalism of the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the NYT’s climate team, which focuses visual, explanatory and investigative journalism on the calamities caused by climate. Content produced by the partnership will appear in both companies' newspapers and digital platforms. In addition, the partnership plans to produce a documentary film and host a conference to bring international leaders in climate change and coastal erosion to New Orleans during its tri-centennial in 2018.
