Dillard University students in New Orleans will have an opportunity this fall to prepare for water management jobs in government and the private industry with a new program being established. Dillard’s Urban Water Management Certificate Program is the first and only of its kind in Louisiana, according to a Dillard media release. The program is designed to teach students how to handle flooding, storm-water management, sinkholes, and sinking land caused by subsidence. Students will also learn how to protect cities from water-borne illnesses by providing clean and safe water to residents. (Source:
