Boat located, SAR continues
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and local agencies are on a search and rescue (SAR) mission looking for two people aboard an overdue vessel in Mobile Bay, Ala., in the evening of Jan. 9. The missing duo was identified as Floyd Nelson, 85; and David Stadman, 40. CG Sector Mobile received a report at 6:30 p.m. of an overdue 22-foot ‘Jon’ boat with the two men aboard. A family member of one of the men reported that the men were planning to fish between the Theodore Ship Channel and Gaillard Island on Tuesday (Jan.8) evening and were supposed to return by 9 a.m. on Wednesday. CG Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter/crew; CG Station Dauphin Island, Ala., launched a 45-foot response boat/crew; CG Aviation Training Center Mobile launched an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft/crew.
