Summit on spill scheduled

LONG BEACH, Miss. – A summit is scheduled for June 30 at the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, Miss. The Mississippi Gulf Coast Oil Spill Disaster Recovery Summit is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Fleming Education Center auditorium. It will focus on the potential long-term impacts on the environment, the economy and the well-being of Mississippi Gulf Coast citizens. The idea is to begin development of community-wide strategies to respond and recover. The free summit, open to the public, is hosted by the Center for Policy and Resilience at USM Gulf Coast in collaboration with the South Mississippi Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters.
