CG suspends Pontchartrain search

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a possible vehicle in Lake Pontchartrain north of New Orleans in the afternoon of March 23. The Coast Guard was responding to a report of a vehicle possibly having gone into Lake Pontchartrain as the result of a **southbound** multi-car accident near Mile Marker 3 on the Causeway Bridge. CG Sector New Orleans received the report Causeway Police at 3:48 a.m. after a damaged guardrail was discovered. A 29-foot response boat from CG Station New Orleans; MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from CG Air Station New Orleans; and Causeway Police are involved in the search.
