Haitian maritime meets with USCG

A Haitian delegation led by Dieudonné Bruno, director general of the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti, and composed of the Director of Cooperation and Maritime Affairs as well as pair of executives from the Coast Guard Service recently met with U.S. Coast Guard Eighth District leadership in New Orleans. The visit, at the invitation of the American Embassy in Haiti, was to exchange information on practices and lessons learned in the identification of vessels requiring offshore inspection prior to docking at ports along the northern Gulf of Mexico, and to become familiar established procedures. Eighth District commander, Rear Adm. David Callahan, welcomed the contingent. Later, the delegation traveled to Alabama and Mississippi to meet with other Coast Guard units.
