DISL to aid in marine mammal project

Dr. Ruth H. Carmichael of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and the University of South Alabama will be a co-investigator in a newly funded project by the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative on marine mammal health effects as a result of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Advanced Research on Marine Mammal Health Assessment (CARMMHA) project will be led by Dr. Lori Schwacke of the National Marine Mammal Foundation. The research consortium will address a number of scientific questions that have emerged in respect to the 2010 oil spill on marine mammals, such as the bottlenose dolphin.
