HII workers earn STEM awards


NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced Oct. 10 that 16 employees from the Pascagoula, Miss., and Newport News, Va., shipbuilding divisions were recognized for achievements in science, technology, engineering and math during the 22nd annual Women of Color STEM Conference last week in Detroit. Four HII employees – all from Pascagoula - received Technology All-Star awards, which recognized accomplished women of color from mid-level to advanced stages of their careers who have demonstrated excellence in the workplace and in their communities. They are Debbie Clark, software development analyst; Donna Gardner, program control director; Robin May, industrial engineering manager; and Angela Pierre, administration director. HII-Pascagoula also had nine of the remaining 12 workers receive the Technology Rising Star awards for women who are helping to shape future technology. HII-Pascagoula workers are Ashley Allman, industrial engineer; Kimberly Cooley, accountant; Tracey Cryer, electrical engineer; Bridget Douglas, program cost control analyst; Carmilla Hoard, foreman; Jennifer Jones, administration manager; Bridgette Kirkpatrick, administration manager; April Martin, project management manager; and Camisha Peterson, electrical engineer.
