Algae: Sound needs to cool first

The blue-green algae continues to linger along Mississippi’s coastal waters, longer than environmental experts expected after the closure – opened for a historic 123 days - of the Bonnet Carré Spillway on the Mississippi River in Louisiana. The river dumped trillions of gallons of fresh water that has found its way to the Gulf of Mexico. What’s the best guess scenario of when it will go away? Local scientists are saying the waters in the Mississippi Sound will have to cool before the algae dies, which means it could be months.
