CG medevacs cruise passenger

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 23-year-old man aboard cruise ship Carnival Valor some 65 nautical miles off the coast of Venice, La., in the early hours of Oct. 8. CG Sector New Orleans received a request for a medevac at 1:14 a.m. for the passenger with multiple significant injuries after he fell aboard the cruise ship. The CG launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from CG Air Station New Orleans to the site of the ship. The aircrew arrived at 5:45 a.m., hoisted the man and the ship's doctor and transported them to New Orleans University Medical Hospital. The man arrived in critical condition.
