Dauntless returning to NASP

The Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla.-based Coast Guard Cutter Dauntless crew is to return to its homeport on Oct. 16 after completing a 47-day, 8,000 nautical mile patrol. All 78 crew began their patrol in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea on Aug. 31. Dauntless crew was assigned command of a task force conducting Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in the southeast U.S. As Hurricane Dorian passed north, Dauntless transitioned south into the Caribbean. There, the crew worked with CG air assets based in Puerto Rico to achieve operational qualifications, and enhance the capabilities of search and rescue, migrant interdiction, and drug interdiction. Joint operations were conducted with the Royal Bahamian Defense Force that resulted in the interdiction and repatriation of 12 Haitian migrants illegally attempting to enter the island of Great Inagua.
