NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard medevaced two swimmers in distress while swimming near East Pass in Destin, Fla., in the afternoon of July 2. Coast Guard Sector Mobile, Ala., received a report around 1 p.m. of two swimmers struggling to make it back to shore after their raft had been swept away. A Good Samaritan boater was able to retrieve the swimmers from the water before a CG Station Destin Response Boat/Crew arrived to recover the swimmers. One of the swimmers was unresponsive, but regained consciousness after the boatcrew administered CPR. The boatcrew took the swimmers back to CG Station Destin, where awaiting EMS transported them to Fort Walton Beach Hospital in fair condition. (Source: Coast Guard 07/02/20)
