GoM lease sale March ’17
The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy
Management ‘s (BOEM) director announced Sept. 15
that it will offer about 47 million acres in the Gulf
of Mexico off the shores of Alabama,
Louisiana, and Mississippi for oil and gas exploration
and development in the Central Planning Area. Central Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale
247 is scheduled to take place in New Orleans in March 2017, which will be the
12th offshore sale under the Obama administration's Outer Continental Shelf Oil
and Gas Leasing Program from 2012-17. This 11 other sales have netted more than
$3 billion, and support of the White House’s goal of continuing to increase
