NEW ORLEANS – Petty Officer 2nd Class Zac Edwards, a marine science technician attached to Coast Guard Sector Mobile, Ala., is scheduled to be presented the Silver Lifesaving Medal on March 11. At his own wedding, Edwards saved a man from drowning off Orange Beach, Ala., in August 2018. The Silver Lifesaving Medal is awarded to a member of the CG who rescues, or endeavors to rescue any person from drowning, shipwreck, or other peril of the water within the United States or subject to U.S. jurisdiction. Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commander of the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans will present the medal pierside at CGS Mobile at 2:30 p.m. (Coast Guard 03/10/20)
