NSWC youth earns Fla.-wide award
PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A Northwest Florida teenager was named 2018 Military Youth of the Year for the State of Florida through the Boys & Girls Club of America. Seventeen-year-old Khaleel Anderson learned of the award in April, and is now planning to represent the Sunshine State at the Southeast regional competition in Atlanta next month. The winner in Atlanta heads to nationals. Khaleel’s father is a contractor at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City (NSWC PC). Khalee mentors other military kids at the base’s Teen Center, and has helped out around base for holiday events and the annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down. “I just want to give back,” said Khaleel.
