New Orleans-based Bisso Towboat has reached an agreement with boat-builder Main Iron Works of Houma, La., to construct a new 100-foot Tier 4-compliant ASD (azimuthing stern drive) tractor tug. Construction is scheduled to start in later summer. Delivery in slated for the fall of 2019. The new tug will be the most powerful ship-assist tug on the Mississippi River and further enhance Bisso’s position as having the largest fleet of ASD tractor tugs serving the Mississippi River ship-assist trade, according to Scott Slatten, Bisso’s president.
