Newest FRC commissioned
The Coast Guard’s newest Fast Response Cutter (FRC) Nathan Bruckenthal was commissioned in Alexandria, Va., on July 25. The FRC brings a host of capabilities to the fleet, according to Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Karl Schultz, enabling the crew to operate further away from shore in extreme conditions. The FRC will complete inspections before going to sea for search-and-rescue, law enforcement, and other missions off the East Coast. The ship could also be called to the Caribbean for drug-interdiction missions.
