Fish net hearing around Cat Island

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) will hold a public hearing Sept. 6 regarding a proposed fish net ban within one mile around Cat Island, a barrier island off the state’s Gulf Coast. The 6 p.m. hearing will be in the auditorium of the Bolton Building at 1141 Bayview Avenue in Biloxi. At its July meeting, the Commission on Marine Resources approved a ‘Notice of Intent’ to update, modify and change listed sections of Title 22 Part 5.
