Gulf Island Fab gets state help

Gulf Island Fabrication Inc. will receive $2.3 million in state assistance for a $29.3 million expansion in Terrebonne Parish. The money will help Gulf Island, which has built offshore drilling platforms since 1985, open a new division to build barges and other marine vessels on the Houma Navigational Channel that leads south from the city to the Gulf of Mexico.
