GIF to consolidate in Houma

Gulf Island Fabrication’s board of directors has OK’d management’s recommendation to place its properties in Aransas Pass and Ingleside, Texas, up for sale, and consolidate fabrication operations to its Houma, La., facility. The Texas properties are currently underutilized and represent excess capacity, according to the board. GIF will re-allocate remaining backlog and workforce to its Houma yard. "We do not expect the sale of these properties to impact our ability to service our deep-water customers or operate our fabrication division," the board said.
