A record number of cruise ship passengers (1.18M) traveled through the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) in 2018. The number marked a 2.3 percent increase over 2017, and the fifth consecutive year of hitting the 1M mark. A 23 percent jump in Mississippi River cruises’ passengers buoyed the total. In 2019, there will be new and larger ships set to sail from New Orleans both to the Caribbean and along the Mississippi River.
