Trio recovered from Lake Verret


NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office rescued two individuals in Lake Verret, La., early morning Feb. 26. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report from the sheriff’s office at 12:40 a.m. of an overdue 18-foot skiff with two men and a woman aboard. Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and aircrew. An updated report from APSO indicated that one of the three had been located and taken to Assumption Community Hospital with signs of possible hyperthermia. The helicopter aircrew arrived at 2:21 a.m. and located the remaining two, and vectored APSO’s water patrol units to the people. They were recovered and transported to Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, La., with signs of possible hypothermia.
