LCS 18 commissioning March 2

The commissioning of the Navy’s newest Littoral Combat Ship, USS Charleston (LCS 18), will be held in Charleston, S.C., on March 2. Charlotte Riley, wife of former Mayor Joe Riley, is the ship’s sponsor. She took part in the ceremonial christening two years ago at Austal USA's shipyard in Mobile, Ala. The commissioning will precede Charleston Navy Week, which is March 11-16. The event is expected to be live-streamed by the Defense Department at navylive.dodlive.mil.
