HOUSTON – Chevron’s “Big Foot” semi-submersible production platform is on its way to installation in the Walker Ridge area of the Gulf of Mexico off the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Crowley and Signet Maritime combined eight tugboats to move the platform from Corpus Christi, Texas, to the GoM site by this coming mid-week. It is to be anchored in 5,200 feet of water. Big Foot is a dry-tree extended spars and tension leg platform (TLP) with an on-board drilling rig. First oil and gas is expected this year, Chevron said. (Source:
