Protected species workshop

National Marine Fisheries Service’s shark ‘Protected Species Safe Handling, Release and Identification’ workshops will be held in St. Lucie, Fla., and Kenner, La., in the month of April. These workshops are mandatory for vessel owners and operators who use bottom longline, pelagic longline or gillnet gear, and who have been issued shark or swordfish limited access permits. Gulf Coast workshops are April 13 at the Holiday Inn on 10120 South Federal Hwy. in Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and April 28 at the Hilton Inn at 901 Airline Dr., in Kenner, La.
