The USS Omaha (LCS 12) is en route to its new home port in San Diego. The ship’s commissioning will be Feb. 3 at the city’s Broadway Pier. The 12th of a new class of Littoral Combat Ships, USS Omaha left Austal USA’s shipyard in Mobile, Ala., on Nov. 20. After stops in Mayport, Fla., and Norfolk for training, the ship is on its way to Naval Base San Diego. On Jan. 31, Omaha will move from the base to Broadway Pier, which is where cruise ships dock along the downtown waterfront. USS Omaha was christened Dec. 19, 2015, in Mobile. (Source:
