FSU partnering with NSWC-PC

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Florida State University-Panama City will have two new programs beginning in Fall 2018, and one of them will be in partnership with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City. FSU-PC Dean Randy Hanna made the announcement of a new bachelor's program in mechanical engineering, and masters program in systems engineering during the Florida State’s board of trustees meeting Jan. 18. The mechanical engineering program, expanding from the Tallahassee campus, teaches contemporary engineering practices for developing products from concept to the marketplace. Courses focus on thermal and fluid systems, mechanical systems, mechanics and materials, dynamic systems, and engineering design. Hanna says the push for these programs comes from the local industry's demand, and the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Hanna says he looks forward to what the Navy base will bring to the program.
