CG medevacs divers from GoM
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medically evacuated (medevaced) two divers reporting symptoms of decompression sickness offshore of Pensacola, Fla., on June 1. A 55-year-old male diver was transported to Spring Hill Medical Center in Mobile, Ala. A 66-year-old male diver was pronounced deceased by EMS upon arriving ashore. CG Sector Mobile received a report at 12:30 p.m. that two divers from the commercial dive boat H2O Below were suffering from decompression sickness roughly 21 nautical miles SE of Pensacola. The CG launched a Rescue Boat and crew from CG Station Pensacola to the location. The boat crew performed CPR on the 66-year-old while transporting both men back to CGS Pensacola. The survivor was airlifted to the hospital upon arrival. (Source: Coast Guard 06/01/20)
