McCain takes helm of 'Lucky 11'

Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11 held a change of command ceremony June 9 onboard Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport, Miss. Cmdr. Michael McCain relieved Cmdr. Dean Allen as commanding officer on the Seabee battalion. Cmdr. McCain, who comes to Gulfport from duty as Public Works Officer at Whidbey Island, Wash., graduated from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2000 and was commissioned an Ensign after completing Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla. (NMCB-11 Facebook 06/09/20) The “Lucky 11” is tasked with providing advance base construction, battle damage repair, contingency engineering, humanitarian assistance and disaster recovery support to fleet and unified commanders. In October 2017, NMCB 11 earned its fourth consecutive Battle ‘E’ award.
