GULFPORT, Miss. - Tropical Storm Cristobal left a big mess on Mississippi's beaches, but created an opportunity for the yet-to-open Mississippi Aquarium. The Gulfport facility plans to recycle driftwood, according to WLOX-TV. With permission from the county beach authority, aquarium staffers have been gathering the driftwood that will become part of the aquarium habitats. They’re very beautiful. They’re going to look great in our exhibits,” said Alison Goetz, an animal care specialists. The aquarium was slated to open in April, but the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed those plans indefinitely.
